What is your role at Mid-Cape? I am a customer service representative here at MCHC in the Orleans location.

What led you to a career with Mid-Cape? I was looking for a good company to work for that allows its employees to grow within the business. You can really see what MCHC means to people when they talk about it. It was the positive feedback from consumers and employees that really made me interested in being a part of this team.

Describe Mid-Cape in three words: Caring, Team-building, Knowledgeable

What is your biggest accomplishment at Mid-Cape so far?  My biggest accomplishment by far has to be the amount that I have learned here at MCHC. It is the most valuable part of this job because I can take it and use it for the rest of my life.

What is something working at Mid-Cape has taught you?  Working at MCHC has taught me more than I have learned in such little time at any job before. I am new to the lumber and building materials industry so I learn one new thing, if not 300 new things, with each day I am here.

So far, what has been your favorite memory at Mid-Cape? Immediately everyone made me feel very at home here at MCHC. My favorite memory from these last couple months was one day when it was raining hard here in Orleans. I had to make the trek out to my car and jokingly asked if anyone had a trash bag to put over my head. Without hesitation, Lloyd pops out of nowhere, grabs a contractor bag and cuts it into a raincoat for me to wear. I walked out of the building wearing a massive trash bag with a hole for my head and two for my arms, but I was indeed dry.

What does the Mid-Cape Experience mean to you? There is nothing, but positive things to say about the MC experience. One would think that it is a different experience for employees than it is for customers, but it really isn’t. Nobody here has to fake wanting to help people. You can tell that people love their jobs and they want to see you succeed not only just at MCHC, but also throughout your life. Personally, I know that if I am every in a bind and do not know how to handle a situation, I could turn to any of my coworkers and they would be there in a moment’s notice.

What’s the greatest bit of advice a Mid-Cape team member has ever given you?  When I came to MCHC I had a lot of customer service experience and zero experience with our products specifically. The best advice that was given to me, and that I would pass on to another new team member, is to not be afraid to ask questions about EVERYTHING. People are always willing to help you, even if at the time you feel like the answer may not matter.

What is one important skill every person should have? Sometimes it can be hard to tune into it, but I think patience is one of the most valuable qualities in a person. Working customer service there are miscommunications between yourself and the customer all the time. I have found that no matter what, having patience will get you very far in this industry.

What is one of the things on your bucket list? I have always wanted to sky dive and I am planning on doing it someday when I find someone willing to do it with me.
