For 26 years, Cape Cod Children’s Place has been a trusted resource for children and families across Cape Cod. That is why the team at Mid-Cape Home Centers voted to select Cape Cod Children’s Place as the non-profit organization they wanted to support this year in The 5th Annual E.J. Jaxtimer Charter Cup Fishing Tournament.
Cape Cod is a community with family support programs, early childhood education, and family-friendly community engagement. With that being said, these opportunities don’t just occur naturally. They are researched, implemented, and funded by incredible community members like those at Cape Cod Children’s Place. With the pandemic forcing CCCP to close their doors for over six months, as well as cancel many of their annual fundraisers, the group still managed to find various ways to virtually support families in need.
The Mid-Cape team recognized these unfortunate circumstances and wanted to rally together to raise funds that benefit CCCP, a non-profit that many of the Mid-Cape team members have used themselves over the years.
Crystal Pieschel, marketing director at Mid-Cape, found CCCP incredibly valuable when she first moved to the area. “CCCP is an amazing resource for all local families, from parenting classes to mother’s resources, to play groups and scholarships, I can’t imagine the area without it. So, when Mid-Cape asked for suggestions, I was more than happy to throw the Cape Cod Children’s Place name into the mix. When you have an opportunity to give back to a non-profit that has helped you and more importantly, your family, you take it with enthusiasm,” she said.
Through t-shirt sales, a virtual silent auction, social media fundraising and much more, the local community rallied together with Mid- Cape Home Centers to raise $38,221 for Cape Cod Children’s Place.
When Cindy Horgan, executive director of Cape Cod Children’s Place, was presented with the jumbo check from Mid-Cape, it was her first time seeing the total. She recalls that moment, “I was speechless, Cape Cod and people like the Mid-Cape Team continue to inspire me with their generosity. These last several months, I have witnessed over and over the kindness of people that care just because it is the right thing to do. Thank you to the Jaxtimer Family for their compassion for the community and to Mid- Cape for making such an impact on so many children and families of Cape Cod.” These funds will go directly to the CCCP support programming and services they provide to so many local families.
The E.J. Jaxtimer Annual Charter Cup is a yearly fundraiser organized by E.J. Jaxtimer Builders that brings local businesses together to support non-profits from all over the Cape and Islands. This year, 15 businesses participated in the Charter Cup, each sponsoring a different local charity, raising over $305,000. Since its’ inception, the Charter Cup has raised over $650,000 for Cape and Islands non- profits.
