What is your role at Mid-Cape? Marketing Specialist. I also create a lot of our video content and handle special projects.
What led you to a career with Mid-Cape? I was searching online on different platforms for months for internships in the area. I finally came across a listing for a Marketing Intern here, so I applied and got an interview. Because I was an online student in college, and would therefore be staying on the Cape for school, I was kept on as an intern for seven months rather than the original three. I finished my four-year degree in December and was hired full-time as of the new year.
Describe Mid-Cape in three words: Building local communities.
What is your biggest accomplishment at Mid-Cape so far? Having a major role in planning the First Responders Appreciation Day Event and Community Fundraiser that took place last July. As a brand new intern, having just begun my internship in May, I was able to get right into it and see how the event planning works here, which is a huge part of what the Mid-Cape Marketing Team does.
What is something working at Mid-Cape has taught you? It is important to stay organized and to never be afraid to ask questions.
So far, what has been your favorite memory at Mid-Cape? I prefer getting to know others in very small settings. Crystal, Emma, Steve, and I all went out to lunch one day to celebrate Steve’s and Emma’s birthdays. It was very fun and they’ve really done well at helping me to feel welcome here.
What does the Mid-Cape Experience mean to you? Having just been hired right out of college, being such a crucial time in my life, I am trying to soak in everything I can from my colleagues and from the leadership team here. These are the defining moments of my future career, whatever that may be, so it’s safe to say that the Mid-Cape Experience means everything to me and its value cannot be overstated.
What’s the greatest bit of advice a Mid-Cape team member has ever given you?
I have received a lot of nuggets of wisdom from the Marketing Director Crystal. One that has stuck out to me was when she told me to never be afraid to ask, ask, and ask again when I need something from someone for a time sensitive project.
What is one important skill every person should have? Self-confidence. It’s important to find what you’re best at, work hard at that, be secure in your abilities, and use those talents to your advantage and for others.
What is one of the things on your bucket list? I have visited a few countries that I absolutely love, but have such a long list of ones I hope to visit as soon as possible. Since I’m crossing off the Faroe Islands later this year, I am going to say Norway for this one. That will most likely be a 2020 trip. I’ve wanted to visit there for so long.
